It is amazing how things have greened up in the past few days! It reminds me of when Wizard of Oz changed from black and white to COLOR!
I received some strawberry plants today from a parent at my school......I didn't realize until too late last year that they are pretty hard to come by. So- needless to say, I am anxious to get them in the ground and get them established.
The Overland Park Farmer's Market opens April 17th and I can barley wait!!! I have printed off a "harvest guide" from the University of Missouri Extension and it looks like I could find some asparagus,lettuce, green onions, spinach, peas (It's a real good thing that we are not becoming "strict" locavores until Summer......my boys are not big fans of spinach, peas OR asparagus..dodged a bullet there....whew!)

This summer we are going to try to be "Locavores". We will only consume locally produced food. Enjoying food from the local Farmer's Markets, CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) through Hen House, etc. This Summer we will only eat beef, chicken, produce, and dairy from the Kansas City area.
