Green, green, greener!

It is amazing how things have greened up in the past few days! It reminds me of when Wizard of Oz changed from black and white to COLOR!

I received some strawberry plants today from a parent at my school......I didn't realize until too late last year that they are pretty hard to come by. So- needless to say, I am anxious to get them in the ground and get them established.

The Overland Park Farmer's Market opens April 17th and I can barley wait!!! I have printed off a "harvest guide" from the University of Missouri Extension and it looks like I could find some asparagus,lettuce, green onions, spinach, peas (It's a real good thing that we are not becoming "strict" locavores until Summer......my boys are not big fans of spinach, peas OR asparagus..dodged a bullet there....whew!)

Here we go!

I can barely wait to discover all of the cool places to get local food in the area. I already have a "Field Trip" set up for the Shatto Dairy Farm and am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to tour the lavender fields! So much to discover!
